The Orissa State Cabinet approved the Orissa Homoeopathy Medical Service Rules, 2013 and the Orissa Homoeopathy Medical Education Service Rules, 2013.

These rules will streamline the service condition of homoeopathy doctors working both in hospitals and medical colleges. These rules would standardise the recruitment of homoeopathy and would apply to both new recruitment and promotions.

The Cabinet decided to do away with interviews for candidates who would now have to clear a written test of 70 marks with multiple type objective questions. Remaining 30 marks would be taken from career marking (10 marks each for Matriculation, Plus II and BHMS courses).

Similar provisions would apply to homoeopathy doctors in periphery as per the Orissa Homoeopathy Medical Service Rules, 2013. However, as per the Orissa Homoeopathy Medical Education Service Rules, 2013 applicable for doctors placed in medical colleges, the doctors would be categorised under Group-A and Group-B. The Group-A—Readers, Professors and Principals –would be appointed through promotions while Group- B—Lecturers –would be hired through a direct written test to be conducted by OPSC without interview.
